The Grounds would like to express its sincere appreciation to Edens & Avant, the owners of the former Barnes and Noble location, for donating the space so that West Hartford high school students can finally have a place which they can call their very own
Improv/Comedy Night May 10th

Saturday May 10th will be Improv/Comedy Night at The Grounds. 7:30 – 11:00pm
at the former Barnes & Noble location in Bishops Corner.
Scheduled to perform The Answer and Off the Cuff Improv troupe (please check their website for more information http://www.offthecuffimprov.com/ and a local band. Scheduled to perform Broken Ottomans.
There will also be indoor volleyball, basketball, and mini golf.
Play Rock Band, Guitar Hero, karaoke, ping pong, foosball and many other games.
This event is exclusively for high school students from Conard, Hall, Kingswood-Oxford, Northwest Catholic, Watkinson and all other West Hartford high schools.
ID is required for entry. Food will be available for sale.

The Grounds will host the Premier showing of American Teen
On Sunday June 15th at 4:00pm at the West Hartford Bow Tie movie theater in Blue Back Square the Grounds will host the premier showing of American Teen (due to be released to the big screen in August). Free movie tickets will be given starting at 3:15 pm on a first come first serve basis. Tickets are limited and a valid West Hartford High School student ID (or a driver license) is required.
There will be free giveaways.

Our first and second events were held at Panera Bread in Bishop's Corner in January and February , 2007. Over 125 West Hartford students attended the first event and over 250 attended the second event. Many thanks to Panera Bread for permitting us to use their facility and for their incredible hospitality. Our third event was held in March at the Town Hall Auditorium. Almost 300 students attended.

Our Mission Statement
The Grounds, Inc. is dedicated to provide a safe, positive and drug, tobacco and alcohol free environment for West Hartford, Connecticut high school and middle school students. The Grounds, Inc. recognizes that, in order to be successful, the organization must be governed by West Hartford students with the assistance of an advisory board staffed by both adults and students. The students are encouraged to initiate and organize activities that will serve to improve their social and recreational lives and provide leadership and community service experience.
